About Alexa Flows 100 Hour Aerial Yoga teacher Training
Most Aerial yoga teacher Trainings are 50 – 65 hours long. This Training is 100 Hours for a reason. As we advance from mat to hammock there are many dynamics at play. Aerial is a different animal. The exploration and freedom found in aerial yoga is beyond. Deep structural changes in the body through safe and effective practice leads to accelerated catharsis, for which there must be a strong and safe “container”, held by the instructor.
What Makes This Aerial Training different
Alexa Flows Aerial Yoga Teacher Training is born of Christina Alexa’s nuanced (detailed) approach to asana practice, both on the mat and in the hammocks, combined with her decades long integration of intuitive healing work. This Training consists of intensive study and practice of Aerial Yoga including daily, lengthy posture clinics. For students who have less experience in the hammocks, the extensive practice can lead to soreness and superficial bruising. This discomfort passes with repeated exposure to aerial training.
The Alexa Flows Aerial YTT also includes an immersion in yogic philosophy, physical and energetic anatomy and physiology, as well as training in the language, perception and understanding of energetic dynamics in order to understand the concept of creating a “safe container”. Aerial practice is FUN, but it is also deeply relaxing, connecting and meditative. Aerial yoga is unique in its ability to affect deep strength and flexibility as well as structural alignment. However, due to its very capacity to accelerate openness in the body, catharsis can happen through release of held emotion and unconscious patterning.
The study of Energetic Dynamics that is inherent in ALL AYI Teacher Trainings prepares the Instructor to understand how to do their OWN internal work in a way that then helps them to understand how to hold space for vulnerable students, in a safe and supportive environment, free from judgement.
Teaching Aerial Yoga is very different than teaching yoga on the mat. Some certified and seasoned yoga instructors have expressed feeling like they are starting over from scratch! This is true, and it is useful to enter this Training with a beginner’s mind. This is another reason to expand the hours in this training beyond the norm. We will take our time, examining each pose in the hammock, practicing together until we truly map the signature of each asana, integrate/own the language, present, and assist. Each one of us is unique; each participant will gain personal understanding of who they are, within this process unveiling and expressing individual “voice” and confidence. As in a mat yoga class, participants will start where they are and move forward with complete respect and compassion for personal boundaries and limitations. You will be supported, celebrated and encouraged in your evolution from the mat to the hammock.
